"Russell Crowe delivers a powerful performance as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor grappling with personal demons while filming a supernatural horror. 'The Exorcism' is reminiscent of Godard’s 'Tout Va Bien,' where the rich, layered set design makes viewers feel like voyeurs in Miller's descent. The film’s deliberate pacing may feel too slow for some, but it is well-balanced by an impressive ensemble cast and a plethora of intriguing ideas. While the lack of traditional jump scares may disappoint horror purists, the film compensates with its psychological depth and compelling narrative."

What's frustrating about "The Exorcism" is that it had potential. Academy Award-winner Russell Crowe stars as Anthony Miller, a troubled actor whose unraveling psyche adds depth to the supernatural horror film he's in. His performance is gripping, as is Ryan Simpkins as his concerned daughter, Lee, who navigates her own fears whether her father is falling back into old addictions or facing a sinister force. The film hints at compelling themes of redemption and fear but ultimately fails to deliver on its initial promise. It leaves you wishing the intriguing setup had been developed into a more satisfying conclusion.
